Since 2007 we have had teachers and volunteers teaching basic lifeskills to children from the Atalntic Seaboard area. We have focussed on 2 programs so as to reduce the rate of drowning in South Africa, starting in Cape Town. We teach children Learn to Swim lifeskills, once they can swim they are encouraged to join Llandudno Lifesaving club.
We have taught over 2000 children the basics of water safety and we hope to teach thousands more, not just water safety but how to swim and save a life one day.
Learn to swim
Children learn the basic skills of swimming in the water.
Once they can swim we try and train them to be strong swimmers.
Once the children are water safe and can swim a few lengths they get invited to Llandudno Lifesaving to learnt he lifesaving skills needed to become a Nipper/ Junior or Senior.
The idea is to become a qualified lifesaver in order to earn a living in the future!
