Juliette is passionate about the outdoors and anything to do with the ocean; if she could live on the beach and SUP or surf all day she would! She is no stranger to challenges and swam in a team around the Cape Peninsular for 36hrs. Sport is not her only passion; helping those in need is also close to her heart. Juliette runs her own NGO called Development Through Sport which focuses on getting kids out of their usual environment and learning new life skills including; swimming, SUP and lifesaving techniques. Juliette is also partial to the odd glass of champagne while watching the sunset on her deck in Hout Bay, South Africa!
Paul's background is from white-water and surf kayaking. Paul is a well-known figure in the paddle sports community in London as he was responsible for setting up 3 canoe clubs there. Paul also works with schools and clubs across London to build and improve sports facilities for a variety of sports. Paul now heads Active 360, a company passionate about bringing SUP to the heart of London for all to enjoy and helping do develop the sport across the UK.
Justin is a 'professional adventurer' (www.justforthechallenge.com), tackling expeditions and challenges in polar, mountain, desert and jungle environments; including a current expedition to explore a new route to the North Pole during the harsh Arctic winter. Justin uses his expeditions to operate a nation-wide education initiative which takes his experiences and turns them in to fun and engaging lesson plans and activities in a variety of curriculum subjects - and encourages kids to 'get out and try it'!
Mo is a civil engineer by profession with a passion for SUP. He started canoeing 6 years ago and soon moved onto white-water on the Thames Valley Weirs. Mo started SUP and SUP racing in 2011 and will be winning races in 2013! Mo is a great all round paddler, an instructor at Active 360 and coaches at several canoe clubs in London.
Phil has been an outdoor sports enthusiast since his teens, on land, snow and water. From Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, to participating in the Oxfam Trailwalker, Phil is always up for a challenge! He will be using his skills in Internet Marketing to develop the website and manage the social media for the project. Phil is also working towards gaining his ASI SUP instructors certificate and can often be seen paddling between the piers in his home town of Brighton where he will be running the Active360 SUP school from the summer 2013.
Brad Symington has been a kitesurfing instructor since 2000 and has a passion for seeing others success. Having started schools both in the UK and Cape Town as well as teaching in locations like Mozambique, Mauritius, Egypt, The Philippines and Greece he has amassed a wealth of knowledge, which he is happy to share with fellow riders.
Surfing for almost 20 years and now taking up SUP for the past 5 years, Brad and a friend were the first people to SUP around The Isle of Wight in a day. Being involved in the distribution of SUP products in the UK his interest is in showcasing just what is possible for people discovering the passion that SUP generates.
Charlie is an all round waterman, he is passionate about water sports, environmental education and has some serious SUP credentials. He has already paddled non-stop round the Isle of Wight and completed an epic 100Km paddle from Land's End to London this year. In the final chapter of his Oceansup.org challenge, he will attempt be the first person to paddle solo across the Atlantic, travelling 6,500Km from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean on a custom built paddleboard!
Soul surfer, wakeboarder, snowboarder, MBA student, entrepreneur, you name it! Jaime likes a good challenge and he´s passionate in all that he does. Born in Angola, grew up in Portugal and has been surfing half world searching for the perfect wave. He likes to develop new business ideas and he´s starting a new one in London. Recently adopted paddleboard as a way to walk on water.
Justin is the expedition film maker, he has over 14 years experience in the TV and video industry as a Producer, Director, Director of Photography and editor. The projects he's worked on include films, documentaries, music videos, corporate, worldwide viral campaigns, festivals and events both in the UK and Europe. His credits include work on the Sony Pictures movies 'Battle Los Angeles' and 'The Amazing Spider-Man'. He is also a part-time lecturer at the American Intercontinental University in London, teaching all aspects of video and film production. Justin will be documenting the project and creating an adventure documentary of the Greenland Expedition.
Stuart has a passion for the outdoors and enjoys a variety of adventure sports including: mountain climbing, wakeboarding, windsurfing, canoeing and SUP; he’s also been know to mess about in the odd boat! Stuart’s day job is with Sky Sports News, which helps to fuel his passion for sports, but he loves nothing more than being on the water finding new ways to challenge himself.
